We will have a party with Alastair Reynolds and Naohiro Washio, mixing people with different languages, cultures, and generations. You may happen to see a different side of Guests of Honor. There will be Bingo Game too, offering various prizes. Come and join us with great food and good conversation.

11:00    Opening program (Introducing Guests of Honor, programs, and SF Quiz game)
The Opening program is the very first program to start up Hal-con 2012. We will introduce our Guests of Honor, our programs, and then will have a Quiz game with all attendees competing in teams.
12:30    Guest of Honor Program:
Conversation between GoH: Alastair Reynolds x Naohiro Washio
Our GoH will talk together about their works. It is their first time to meet each other, but they have known each other's works as the author and the cover artist. They will talk about their first impression, what they have gained through 'Revelation Space', what things they have in common, etc.

14:00    The 3rd Sogen Science Fiction Short Story Contest Final Selection Meeting
The final selection meeting of 'The 3rd Sogen Science Fiction Short Story Contest' to select the aspiring new writer will be held at Hal-con, open to Hal-con members. The selection committee Nozomi Oomori, Sanzo Kusaka, and Hirotaka Tobi will evaluate the final nominees and announce the winners.

12:30    Indie publishing with Amazon Createspace - Dome Child, a soft SF adventure novel

In this panel, Regina will hold a short reading from her Dome Child novel (in English) and discuss the process of indie publishing with Amazon's Createspace and the pains of marketing an Indie novel (bilingual).

14:00    Takeda Taicho Program: SF convention of my dreams 2012
I have been working as a staff member of numerous events, including Japan national SF convention. Among these events, Nippon 2007, a Worldcon held in Japan is the one I have most enjoyed. If we run a Worldcon in Japan now, how much will it cost? I would like to look into actual figures. Feel free to join me.

16:00    Build The World
Ever wanted to play god? Here's your chance! Along with your fellow HAL-CON members, design a world from scratch, from the physical formation of the planet to the civilizations that that evolve there. This year we will have more time to discuss.

12:30    Let's go to Worldcon 2012
We will show some slides from last year's Worldcon Renovation, and will talk about this year's Worldcon Chicon 7 and all the future Worldcons. We would also want to talk about the possibility to host a Worldcon in Japan again.

14:30    Theater Company Caramelbox and western SF
Last year, Theater Company Caramelbox staged 'The Door into Summer'. This year, they are planning to put 'Flowers for Algernon' and 'Unaccompanied Sonata' on stage. Caramelbox had been staging various western SF stories for years. I will disclose the relationship between Caramelbox and the western SF.

16:00    Guest of Honor Program: Reading by Alastair Reynolds
Guest of Honor Alastair Reynolds will read an excerpt from his novelettes in Hal-con Books 'At Budokan'. Japanese participant will also read translated Japanese version.
